Westwood Blog is a service of Dave Atkins Media, Inc. These Terms of Service (TOS) describe what this web site does and does not do for the community and clarifies Westwood Blog’s relationship to the information published on the site. Our Privacy Policy outlines the types of personal information Dave Atkins Media, Inc. may collect as well as some of the steps we take to secure it. You should also review our Community Guidelines which describe our expectations around the manner in which you participate on this site.

Relationship to Town

Westwood Blog is not affiliated with the Town of Westwood. Material posted on the site may represent fact and opinions, reported and expressed by individuals.

Nature of Content

Westwood Blog is a multi-user blog. Anyone who creates an account can contribute content, not only in the form of comments, but also through their own articles. Continued privilege to post content is conditioned on user’s adherence to the Community Guidelines.

Publication Standards

All content is published at the discretion of the Editor. The policy of this site is to promote the free exchange of ideas in a fair and objective manner, but this does not require us to publish everything anyone submits.

Libel

The following list of examples may help illustrate the Westwood Blog standard:

Will Delete

  • “Senator X was bribed to do Y.”
  • “Joe Private Citizen is cheating on his wife.”
  • “Selectman Z is a child-molester.”
  • “Town Employee X is a bully who did the following things to me…”

Will Not Delete

  • “Senator X wants to screw the Town of Westwood.”
  • “Selectman Z is a corrupt person who is just in it for himself.”
  • “I think this project was railroaded through with backroom deals and favors.”
  • “There is a clique of people who don’t tolerate dissent.”

The key issue that will alert the Editor to a potentially libelous publication is an allegation of facts versus opinion.

If you feel specific content on the site is libelous, you may report it to the Editor.

Community Guidelines

Please consult the Community Guidelines to see the types of behavior expected from individuals. Understand that the Editor may exercise discretion to remove material that detracts from the community even if it does not rise to the legal definition of libel.
