Community Supported Agriculture: Powisset Farm

Just over the hill, in Dover, Powissett Farm is kicking off its second season of Community Supported Agriculture. The farm is owned by The Trustees of Reservations and managed by Farm Manager Meryl LaTronica. Last year, 115 shareholders launched a successful season with more than 67,000 pounds of produce harvested. This year, the program is expanding to 200 shares.

Shareholders purchase a share of the farm for $550 ($600 for nonmembers of The Trustees of Reservations), then visit the farm weekly from June through October to pick up 1 to 4 bags of produce. For those who want even more fun, you may visit the "pick-your-own" fields or volunteer on the farm. I first learned of this project through a Harvest Dinner at my church.

CSA shares are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. Contact Meryl LaTronica at mlatronica (at) ttor.org to obtain a registration form and more information.

Dave, this is fantastic! I've been waiting to hear about CSA opportunities in our area. I'm on it!
