WestwoodBlog: Ready or Not!

I have a personal blog at DaveWrites, but I've been thinking about starting a blog specifically about Westwood for some time. There is a great blog in nearby Dedham called myDedham and I think a site like this can be a great resource to help bring the community together.

One of my motivations is that I work in Boston and feel like I don't have time during the day to really know what's going on in Westwood. I believe many residents might be in a similar situation. I don't want the town to just be a bedroom and weekend community for me--I want to be a part of what's going on and connect with my community. A lot of that happens in person, through the people you meet on the weekends, etc., but I think you still need a resource and a place to comment and discuss local events when you have 10 or 15 minutes here and there...at work...or at 1am. I've also learned that waiting to make something perfect often means it never gets done.

So I'm putting this site out there as it is and will be filling the details in as I go. You can register, create an account, and submit an article to this site--just go for it if you are inspired. Please:

• don't deface the site with spam or obscenity
• do register with your real name or something close to it. This is intended to be a site where people know or get to know each other, not an anonymous internet chat room
• bear with me as I add more features and fine tune things--what you see here is something I put together over the Thanksgiving holiday--in a few hours here and there.
